7/28/07 Lake Ripley Fishing Report

Saturday Morning Conditions: Winds NW 5-10mph, Sunny, 72 deg water temp.

I headed out to Lake Ripley this morning for a couple hours. This time of year, I typically find fish off of weedlines using crankbaits and Texas-Rigged Worms. Docks, slop and shallow water will also hold fish, but with limited time, I decided to concentrate deep. 

Crankbaits really did not seem to be working well. I caught a few fish on a Rapala DT-10, but every fish was pretty small. After slowing down and probing the deeper (12-15’) weeds, I found a few fish above the 14-inch mark. For those fish, I used nothing really fancy: a Gambler Lures 7” Ribbon Tail worm, 1/8 ounce sinker, 4/0 Owner J-Hook, and Rogue Rods SJ663S spinning rod with 10 lb Trilene XL.
