Bass Fishing Report; Mississippi River Pool 9; May 17, 2007
I
started my weekend of fishing off on Thursday when Alex and I went up to
pool 9 to test the bountiful waters. Even having to endure several hours
of motor problems, we were able to salvage the day and catch some
quality bass. We
were targeting two groups of fish when we started the day, fish that had
yet to spawn and fish that had. We did find some fish still spawning in
shallow bays that had sparse weed growth. Swimming jigs in a variety of
colors and spinnerbaits worked best in locating these fish. Some
post-spawn fish were found starting to stack up on their summer points
that had emerging eel grass and lily pads. With the low water this
spring, the weed growth this year will be extensive. |
