Bass Fishing Report; Mississippi River Pool 8; September 2, 2006

My Dad and I got out for the day on the water Saturday and managed to find some really good fish on points. They were chasing large shad out away from the points and we were able to get them to hit topwater.

The weather was pleasant...high 70's and sunny skies with a slight breeze coming from the NE. Water temps are falling and are now in the low to mid 70's.

The key right now is to find the large shad, the smaller fish are holding tight to the banks and feeding on smaller schools of shad. I caught a 4.7lb smallmouth, which was followed up by a 5.2lb largemouth that I let my Dad reel in. We also were able to find some quality 3lb fish in pads with a scum frog. Fish total for the day was around 50 with plenty over the 14" limit.
