Bass Fishing Report; Mississippi River Pool 8; September 10, 2008

The water temps are falling on the river, which means the fish are starting to actively feed to prepare for the winter transition. You can find shad all over the place right now, but the larger shad is what I’ve been keying in on. Main channel sand flats, points and wingdams are what I’ve been focusing on over the past couple weeks but have been picking some fish up on grass banks with current on it as well. Fish are starting to school up on shad, so they’re pretty easy to find, the only question is how big they are. If you can find the right school, be ready for a 3-4lbs whackfest! Spooks, swim jigs and C-Rigs have all been working well but have heard others say they’re getting them on lipless cranks and flukes as well.

Good luck out there!
