Bass Fishing Report; Mississippi River Pool 8; May 3, 2006

Things went fair last night. BC and I brought in 2 fish but they weren't very big. To tell you the truth I struggled last night....I kept getting bit on swimjigs and couldn't get fish in the boat. I'm not calling 100% user error just yet b/c I did go through a 10pk of grub tails with these fish grabbing and tearing off the tails. I think a lot of times we know we need to make a change but are too stubborn to do it. I know I needed to switch to some kind of flippin' bite, but I didn't, so I paid the price.

Our fish were very tight to cover in shallow water and were acting in a bed-like manner. What I mean is that they weren't attacking the baits, but simply moving them out of that area....I'm gonna switch it up this weekend w/some finesse and see what happens.

There is plenty of spawn left.....There were some smallies that probably dropped during the warm spell, but I think you'll see plenty of spawning fish over the next several weeks....Water temps have dropped back down into the upper 50's.....60's in backwaters.

Moose Boose is on the right

Here was the best bag of the night, anchored with this nice 4lb Smallie and they lost one that was bigger!
