Bass Fishing Report; Mississippi River Pool 8; March 26, 2007

Finally was able to put hook into the elusive pool 8 bass today Laughing

It was a blast..Man I almost forget how hard these "monster" 14-15"ers can pull. You almost think you have a good one on! Well they were still fun to catch and I caught several. Can't wait to get back!!!!!

Here are details:
I didn't catch any hogs, but I was able to catch several bass, with 3 keepers in the 14-15" mark. Instead of using the normal finesse techniques, these fish wanted a hard jerked jerkbait and they were just eating it up. A lot of fish were in a foul mood and wouldn't touch anything, but that erratically jerked x rap or a different jerkbait would trigger a few into some killer strikes.

I caught between 8 and 10 bass most in the 12" range and like I said, 3 keepers. I had a miss hap at shore which would have put me at 4 keepers I think. I didn't get a good look at that one, but I bet it was 14". I'm extremely happy that I have caught some fish finally. It's been a long winter, and I'm also pumped that I've done it on March 26th! Like I said, no hogs whatsoever. First fish was the biggest at 15". Second one was only 12, and the third was around 14". The pic doesn't do justice. I'm assuming these were all males as they were real skinny. The water is warm enough but I can't picture anything spawning out. Up in this pocket it was up to 67 degrees already! The big girls must still be out deep.
