Bass Fishing Report: Mississippi River Pool 5 – May 20, 2007

Water temps are in the upper 60’s. Current flow and water clarity are very good right now. The fish seem to be done with spawning right now, I did not see any on beds. The pattern for the day seemed to be the best around undercut banks with current on them, also riprap with current. Sand drops with weed and slight current are also holding fish. Presentation was flipping tubes and jigs. Senko’s on closing dams caught Smallmouth and Largemouth. The weeds are starting to come up strong right now and the bait fish are starting to move in and the fish are starting to chase the bait. Brovarney swim jigs in White and White/ Chart are getting some of the active fish to bite. The fishing will only get better with the spawn rapping up and the weeds and Lilly pads starting to come up.

Good Fishing!
