Bass Fishing Report: Mississippi River Pool 4 - August 5, 2006

The weather was cool with temps around 70-75, cloudy with some passing rain and light wind. My partner for the day was a good friend Jerrie Eckholdt. Jerrie and I fish some team tournaments together. We started out fishing Sizmic Toads and Swim Jigs. The fish were very active on the Toads early near weed clumps. We also found schooling Shad with Bass chasing. We caught around 20 Largemouth in these type of areas on the Toads and Swim Jigs. Swim Jig colors were White, White/Chart and Black/ Purple/ Blue with a June Bug trailer. Most of our fish came from less than 3 feet of water. We also found some Smallie's and Largie's schooled in one area that was a sand hump with a drop and had slight current flowing over it. Most of our fish there came on Finesse worms and tubes. A lot of weeds dying off now and water came up with the resent rains. Fall fishing is just around the corner.
