Bass Fishing Report; Long Lake; July 28, 2007

I had a chance to fish Long Lake in northern Wisconsin on Saturday July 28th. I started about 5am and headed straight for a couple of smallie humps on the main lake. I was using a carolina rig with 1/2 oz. weight and a berkley green pumpkin copper flake tube. I caught some fish on the top of the humps in 13-17 foot and I then moved to the outer edges and fished the drops. I caught bigger fish just of the hump. I did not stick to a hump long if I did not get bit.

After about an hour and a half I moved up the lake to another set of humps that had 18 foot on top and 35 on the sides. I was rigging the same way and I caught for keepers in four casts. I could see a lot more baitfish present on my graph compared to the last set of humps. I fished these for an hour and moved back down to the main lake.

I fished a couple long weedlines that dropped of at 8-10 feet. I was throwing a green pumpkin beaver and a blue fleck worm. I must have fished three hundred yards and never got bit. At 9:30 I moved to a rock bar on the main lake that is about 75 yards long . I was rigging the tube again and would throw to the top of the bar and drag it into 16 foot. Most of my bites came on the first drop off the bar. I caught a lot of smallies but only two were legal. It was 80 and no wind when I got off the lake at 11am.

Tough day but caught a lot of fish.
