Bass Fishing Report; Lake Wisconsin, July 11 & 17, 2006 |
||||
|
I had the
opportunity to fish with two of my favorite partners on Lake Wisconsin
on these days. On Tuesday the 11th, I fished with a good
friend Frank Damit. We got out on the water at about 5:30 to find the
wind blowing at about 10-15 mph from the SW. The air temps were about 82
degrees and the water temp was not very far behind. We started out by
working some main lake structure with shad raps and shaky head jigs. I
nailed a nice 15-inch small mouth in the first ten minutes followed up
by a nice large mouth. Frank proceeded to catch a nice 18” largemouth
about five minutes later. We fished that area for a few more minutes
with nothing else to show for it. We then decided to move on down the
lake to some of my other spots. We pulled into a
small cove that was protected form the wind and I started to throw a
swim jig, while he continued to throw a shad rap. He scored a few short
small mouths and we moved on. We then decided to work some docks in the
area with plastics. We were throwing senkos and I was pitching creature
baits at the docks. We caught some really nice large mouths doing this
and finished out the night fishing this pattern. Our best five fish
would have weighed in at a respectable 12 pounds. On the 17th
I had the pleasure of going fishing with my father. That is always a
treat. It is a great opportunity to spend time with him and remember
that there is a lot more to the sport than just catching fish. We
followed the same pattern as the Tuesday before, but the temperatures
were considerably higher. The air temp was topping out in the mid 90’s
and the wind was still cooking across the lake. We ended up catching
about five legals during our outing, but they were all less than 16”.
Still it was great to get out on the water with the man who raised me. I
always enjoy spending time with the man who taught me to love the
outdoors. I hope that all
that get out enjoy there time on the water and are lucky enough to catch
some good fish. Tight lines and God Bless. Darin Roddick-Small
