Bass Fishing Report; Chetek Chain; June 4, 2006

The Chetek Chain I fished from 6:30 am to 11 am. My only goal was to "practice" slop fishing for the upcoming BFL on Winneconne. Every year I have to work on my slop fishing in the spring so I can be efficient at in by the time the bite picks up. I had 2 rods rigged with Horny Toads (white and watermellon), as well as a Spro frog.

I started on a bay in Pokegama and immediately started hooking fish with the Horny Toad in pads. It was fun, explosive action. In the heavy stuff I threw the Spro but did not get a blow up. Moved to a similar bay on Prarie Lake with identical results. Saw a big female chasing bluegils and threw a swim jig out and cranked it past her very fast - she inhaled it. 20.5" and just shy of 5 lbs. Went in to Moose Ear and picked up 4 or 5, 16" to 17" on the Horny Toad - white was the color of the day.
