Bass Fishing Report; Ohio River Rocky Point ; Aug 20, 2006 |

Weather:
Rain early, mostly coudy, high around 85 Water:
The river is at summer pool, main river is clear, creeks stained,
water temperature low to mid 80’s I fished the Indiana Bass Federation Invitational at Rocky Point Sunday, August 20. There were 54 boaters and 53 co-anglers. It rained really hard as I was driving to the tournament in the morning, but surprisingly, the creeks did not muddy up. The rain was light when we took off, but I decided not to make a run until it stopped. I caught one keeper on a spinnerbait in some grass in the first few minutes. Nothing else after that for the next hour. The rain stopped, so I made a run to what I thought was going to be my best area. After two hours, my co-angler had caught one keeper on a buzzbait and I had a few short fish on a shallow crankbait. This area was not producing like I thought it should, so I made another run farther up river. We spend the rest of the day there and I caught two more keepers on the crankbait and a lot of short fish. My co-angler stuck with the buzzbait all day, but it just wasn’t meant to be. I
wound up with 3 keepers that weighed 4.06 lbs and finished 27th.
My partner had 1 that weighed 1.36.
First place boater had 5 fish that weighed 10.32 lbs. and the
winning co-angler had 4 that weighed 7.54.
There were a lot of fish caught.
Nearly everyone weighed in fish.
All of our fish were caught in creeks in less than 5 feet of
water, but I’m sure there were some fish caught on the main river
also. Steve Sendelweck |
