	Bass Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; 9/13/2007 Bass Buster Guide Service Kentucky Lake : Water level at Ky Dam - 356.27 Surface Temperature - 80 Lake Barkley : Water level at Barkley Dam - 356.40 Surface Temperature - 79 Both lakes are 3 feet below summer pool. This is right on schedule with the TVA river operating system for the slow drawdown to winter pool. The water temperatures are dropping and we are in the early stages of the fall transition. Some shad have already moved shallow. From what I saw this week it appeared more adult threadfin were shallow on Barkley vs Kentucky but there are some good schools of shad shallow on Kentucky also. There are a lot of big shad schools staging around the mouths of the bays. We should see more of these shad moving in over the next week or so and of course when the shad move the bass are sure to follow. I mentioned last week that I was beginning to see more shallow water action and this week was no different. Overall I would classify the bass bite as fair this week and getting better. Largemouth Bass: Largemouth are being taken on a number of patterns as is usual with the fall transition. Some Largemouth are being taken on main lake primary points and on humps and ledges around the mouths of the bays on crankbaits, Carolina rigged creature baits and large worms as well as jigs. The point bite seems more productive than the ledges. Largemouth are also being taken on secondary points and creek channel banks near wood cover on crankbaits and jigs. Largemouth are being taken on the flats in the bays near wood cover and grass beds on topwater lures, spinnerbaits, lipless crankbaits and deadstick worms. Smallmouth Bass: Smallmouth are being taken on main lake points early and late in the day on crankbaits and jigs. A few Smallmouth are showing up on the flats in the bays near the grass beds and are being taken on spinnerbaits. Some of the productive lures this week were: Lucky Craft Sammy in ghost pearl lemon, Hart buzzbait in white, Charmer 10.5 inch paddle tail worm in plum, Hook Some Bass spinnerbaits in blue glimmer, Lewis rattletraps in blue/chrome, Last Cast finesse jigs in peanut butter jelly and green pumpkin with Net Baits baby paca craw trailer and Yamamoto senko in smoke.
