Bass
Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; 9/13/2007
Both
lakes are 3 feet below summer pool. This is right on schedule with
the TVA river operating system for the slow drawdown to winter
pool. The water temperatures are dropping and we are in the early
stages of the fall transition. Some shad have already moved
shallow. From what I saw this week it appeared more adult
threadfin were shallow on Barkley vs Largemouth
Bass: Largemouth are being taken on a number of patterns as is
usual with the fall transition. Some Largemouth are being taken on
main lake primary points and on humps and ledges around the mouths of
the bays on crankbaits, Smallmouth
Bass: Smallmouth are being taken on main lake points early and
late in the day on crankbaits and jigs. A few Smallmouth are
showing up on the flats in the bays near the grass beds and are being
taken on spinnerbaits. Some
of the productive lures this week were: Lucky Craft Sammy in ghost
pearl lemon, Hart buzzbait in white, Charmer 10.5 inch paddle tail worm
in plum, Hook Some Bass spinnerbaits in blue glimmer, Lewis
rattletraps in blue/chrome, Last Cast finesse jigs in peanut butter
jelly and green pumpkin with Net Baits baby paca craw trailer and
Yamamoto senko in smoke. If

preparation, lake familiarization or technique instruction don't
