Bass
Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; Aug 31, 2006
Both
lakes are about 2.5 ft below summer pool. We have had some nice
cool weather here in the lakes area all week and it has made it very
pleasant to be on the water after all the triple digit temperatures we
had earlier this month. I was actually a little chilly yesterday
and wore a thin jacket most of yesterday morning. The forecast is
for temperatures in the 70's for Saturday and Sunday and low 80's there
after for the rest of next week. Low's are forecasted to be in the
high 50's to low 60's. This cooling off period has dropped the
water temperatures a little and if the forecast holds true then we
should see the water temperatures start moving downward some. For
the angler's this means it won't be long before the bass and crappie
start staging near the mouths of the bays as the mature shad gather
there before they make their transition to shallow water for fall
feeding. Largemouth
Bass: The Largemouth Bass are being taken on main lake ledges
and ledges near the mouths of the bays. These fish are being taken
on Smallmouth
Bass: The Smallmouth Bass are being taken on deep river channel
ledges on Some
of the productive lures reported this week are: Lucky Craft Sammy
in ghost pearl lemon and american shad, Zoom horny toads in white and
green pumpkin swirl, Yamamoto Senkos in variations of watermelon,
Hook Some Bass spinnerbaits in blue glimmer, Net Baits Baby Paca Craw in
summer craw and pumpkin/chartruese, Zoom ol monster worms in plum, Zoom
magnum lizards in green pumpkin and Hook Some Bass tubes in chameleon
craw and green pumpkin. If
you are in need of a guide for some fun bass fishing, tournament
preparation, lake familiarization or techniques instruction don't
hesitate to give me a call or drop me an email. Now is the time to
make your reservations for the peak fall fishing in October and
November. I
have the following dates available in October for booking: I
have plenty of dates available in November. November normally
offers some very good bass fishing and with everyone out hunting there
is very little pressure on the fish. Dave
