Bass
Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; 7/5/2007
Both
lakes are about one foot below summer pool. Hot days and afternoon
thunderstorms has been the scenario this past week. The weekend
forecast is calling for sunny skies and only a small chance of
precipitation. The lakes are busy with holiday traffic this week
so be careful and drive defensively both on and off the water.
Heat indexes are climbing during the day now so make sure you take
plenty of water with you. Largemouth
Bass: The Largemouth are being taken on the ledges on the main
lake and around the mouths of the deeper bays. These fish are
being taken on Smallmouth
Bass: The Smallmouth Bass are somewhat slow during the day but
some are being taken on main lake shorelines and points early and late
in the day on topwater lures, crankbaits, tube jigs and jigs. The
night bite is reported to be fair with fish being taken on large dark
colored spinnerbaits, crankbaits, tube jigs and jigs fished on main lake
points. Some
of the productive lures reported this week are: Lucky Craft Sammy
in ghost pearl lemon, Rebel Pop R in black/chrome, Lucky Craft G Splash
in ghost pearl lemon, buzzbaits in white, Zoom Horny Toads in
watermelon/red pear, Zoom super flukes in shad patterns, Slong' Poison
Head Shake It's rigged with Charmer large worms in plum and Gambler
large worms in peppergrass, Hook Some Bass baby brush hounds in
watermelon/purple, Zoom brush hogs in watermelon/candy and junebug, Hook
Some Bass tubes in chameleon craw and green pumpkin, and D&L jigs in
black/blue and cumberland craw. If
you are in need of a guide for some fun bass fishing, tournament
preparation or lake familiarization don't hesitate to call me or drop me
an email. Now is the time to make your fall bookings to get the
date(s) you want. I have been doing a lot of teaching trips lately
on how to find and fish the ledges...this is the time to learn if you
need help in this area. We still have 3 more months in which ledge
fishing will be the dominate Largemouth pattern here on the lakes.
I am offering split day trips during the months of July and August.
These trips consist of 4 hours morning fishing followed by 4 hours of
fishing during the late evening. Contact me for information and
rates for these split day trips. I
have the following dates available for booking during July, August and
September: July:
22, 30 August:
1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28,
