Bass Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; 6/21/2007
Bass Buster Guide Service

Kentucky Lake :
Water Level at Ky Dam - 358.07  Surface Temperature - 81

Lake Barkley :
Water Level at Barkley Dam - 358.35  Surface Temperature - 81

Both lakes are one foot below summer pool.  The weather forecast for the weekend is for sunny and hot with afternoon temperatures in the mid 90's.  We still have not received any appreciable amount of precipitation and there is not any in the immediate forecast other than some isolated thunderstorms in the forecast for Friday night.  Although there is very little current on either lake, the ledge fishing for Largemouth Bass continues to be good this past week on both lakes.  The early morning and late evening bite around the grass beds is fair and I expect this will pick up even better in the near future.

Largemouth Bass:  The Largemouth Bass are being taken on the main lake river and creek channel ledges as well as on creek channel ledges in the bays.  These fish are being taken on deep diving crankbaits, Carolina rigged creature baits and large worms, Texas rigged large worms, large worms on 1/2 and 3/4 ounce shaky head type jigs and jigs (both slack lined and dragging).  Largemouth are also being taken early and late in the day near grass beds on topwater lures and spinnerbaits.  Some fish are also being taken over matted grass on frog lures.

Smallmouth Bass:   Smallmouth Bass are being taken on river ledges on Carolina rigged creature baits and jigs.  Some Smallmouth are being taken on secondary points in the bays and on main lake points early in the day on topwater lures, tube jigs and jigs.  Additionally some Smallmouth are being taken early and late in the day on topwater lures around the grass beds.

Some of the productive lures reported this week are:  Lucky Craft Sammy in ghost lemon pearl, Yozuri PopnSplash lures in ghost lemon, DT 16 crankbaits in parrot and bluegill, DD22 crankbaits in baby bass, Zoom Brush Hogs in watermelon/candy, Hook Some Bass brush hounds in watermelon/red and watermelon/purple, Charmer 10.5 inch worms in plum fished on a poison head shake it jig, Last Cast finesse jigs in green pumpkin with paca craw trailer and Jewel jigs in green pumpkin.

If you are in need of a guide for some fun bass fishing, tournament preparation, lake familiarization or technique instruction don't hesitate to give me a call or drop me an email.  This is a great time to learn how to find and fish the ledges.  If you have not made your fall reservations yet, you should do so soon to get the date(s) you want.

I have the following dates available for booking in June, July and August:

June:  28

July:  3, 5, 10, 12, 15, 19, 22, 28, 29, 30

August:  I have plenty of available dates in August...give me a call or drop me an email with your request
