Bass Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; 12/14/2007
Bass Buster Guide Service

Kentucky Lake :
Water Level at Ky Dam - 355.96  Surface Temperature - 49

Lake Barkley :
Water Level at Barkley Dam - 356.20  Surface Temperature - 48

Both lakes are two feet over winter pool.  We have had heavy rains in the lakes area this week which dumped 4-5 inches of rain around mid week.  The forecast is for more rain (around .5 inches) mixed with snow tonight and tomorrow.  A winter weather advisory has been issued for the lakes area for tonight and Saturday.  It looks like it would be a good weekend to finish up that Christmas shopping.  Fishing reports have been very scarce since the heavy rains hit us earlier in the week.  Early this week reports indicated that a lot of the bass have moved to winter patterns on main lake points and ledges.  With the cold weather now here and reports being scarce I will only update my weekly reports when I feel there is enough information to write a valid report for the rest of the winter.  If you are coming here to fish this winter and I have not updated my report, feel free to call or email me and I will give you the latest of any information I have.

Largemouth Bass:  Some Largemouth are still being taken on secondary creek channel points near the mouths of the bays and on main lake primary points.  These fish are being taken on suspending jerkbaits, slow rolled crankbaits, shaky head worms and blade baits.  Largemouth are also now being taken on the ledges with blade baits, jigs and spoons.

Smallmouth Bass:  Smallmouth are being taken on main lake points and on the ledges.  These fish are being taken on suspending jerkbaits, jigs and blade baits.

Some of the productive lures this week were:  Lucky Craft pointer in chartreuse shad, Rapala husky jerk in clown, Silver Buddy in silver, Zoom finesse worm (on shaky head) in green pumpkin, Bandit crankbaits in rootbeer chartreuse and Last Cast Finesse jigs in green pumpkin with matching paca craw trailer.

Now is the time to make your reservations for next season, especially next spring.  Bookings are coming in daily right now and if you are planning a trip here next spring you should make your reservations soon in order to ensure that you get the date(s) you desire.  If you are in need of a bass guide for some fun bass fishing, tournament  preparation, lake familiarization or technique instruction please give me a call or drop me an email.

A gift certificate for a guided bass fishing trip makes a great Christmas gift for your favorite bass angler.  A gift certificate purchased now, before Christmas is good for one year and are being sold at 2007 prices.  This is a savings of 25.00 over 2008 prices.  Guys, if you want one of these for Christmas, let your wife or family know asap...time is running out to get one before Christmas.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season.  Please take time to say a prayer for our troops serving in far off places, especially those that are putting themselves in harm's way to keep us safe here at home.
