Bass Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; 11/23/2007
Bass Buster Guide Service

Kentucky Lake :
Water level at Ky Dam - 356.05  Surface Temperature - 55

Lake Barkley :
Water level at Barkley Dam - 356.20  Surface Temperature - 55

Both lakes are 2 feet over winter pool.  The Largemouth bass fishing has been excellent this past week on Kentucky Lake .  I did not get on Barkley this past week and reports are few this time of year but I would expect the fishing on Barkley to be good also.  The weather forecast for the weekend and next week look good for some great late fall fishing but as always, keep checking the weather forecasts as they can change rapidly this time of year.  The bite this past week has been the best of the fall with some nice fish and good numbers in the boat so if you are thinking about some late fall fishing, now is the time to get on the water.  Remember, the water temperatures and air temperatures are in the range now for hypothermic conditions, be prepared by taking some extra dry clothing with you, a survival kit in case you get stranded and let someone know where you will be fishing and have them check to make sure you got off the water safely at the end of the day.

Largemouth Bass:  The Largemouth are being taken in the creeks and bays on secondary points, creek channel banks as well as on the shallow flats.  These fish are being taken on topwater lures, crankbaits, suspending jerkbaits and spinnerbaits as they are feeding on schools of baitfish.

Smallmouth Bass:  The Smallmouth are being taken on main lake points and the first secondary points in the creeks and bays.  A few Smallmouth are being taken on the flats in the bays and on the main lake.  These fish are being taken on crankbaits, suspending jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs.

Some of the productive lures this week were:  Lucky Craft sammy in ghost pearl lemon, Lucky Craft pointers in chartreuse shad, table rock shad and aroura black, Strike King crankbaits in sexy shad, Bandit crankbaits in rootbeer, Hook Some Bass spinnerbaits in blue glimmer and Last Cast finesse jigs in green pumpkin.

Now is the time to make your reservations for next year, especially for the spring fishing.  If you are in need of a guide for some fun bass fishing, tournament preparation, lake familiarization or technique instruction don't hesitate to give me a call or drop me an email.  Don't put off making your reservation too long or you may not get the date(s) you want.

I have openings over the next couple of weeks so if you want to get in on some of this late fall bass fishing give me a call or drop me an email.

A gift certificate for a guided bass fishing trip makes a great Christmas or special occasion gift for your favorite bass angler.  Certificates purchased before Christmas will be sold at this year's rates and are good for one year from purchase.  Contact me via email or phone to purchase your gift certificates.
