Bass Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; Nov. 16, 2006
Bass Buster Guide Service

Kentucky Lake
Water Level at Ky Dam - 355.52
Surface Temperature – 56

Lake Barkley :
Water Level at Barkley Dam - 355.35
Surface Temperature - 56

Both lakes are one and one half foot over winter pool and on a slow rise.  They are forecasted to rise about one more foot over the next two days.  We have had a lot of rain here in the lakes area over the past couple of days with some high winds over the past couple of days.  The short range forecast looks good for Friday and Saturday with highs in the 50's but on Sunday the forecast calls for highs in the 40's with north wind.  There has not been much fishing activity the past two days but last weekend and earlier this week the late fall fishing was reported to be overall fair with some good days and some slow days for Crappie and Bass.  A number of good reports were received about the Sauger having started this past week with some good catches being taken.

Largemouth Bass:  Largemouth are being taken shallow in the creeks and bays feeding on schools of baitfish.  These fish are being taken on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jerkbaits and Texas rigged creature baits and tubes.  Largemouth are also being taken on secondary creek channel points and main lake primary and secondary points on topwater lures, crankbaits, suspending jerkbaits, Carolina rigged creature baits and jigs.

Smallmouth Bass:  Smallmouth Bass are being taken on main lake primary and secondary points on topwater lures, crankbaits and suspending jerkbaits.  Although this bite has been sporadic, some good fish have been taken on good bite days.

Some of the productive lures reported this week are:  Lucky Craft sammy and gunfish in ghost pearl lemon and chartreuse shad, Hook Some Bass spinnerbaits in blue glimmer, Bandit crankbaits in rootbeer/chartruese, Rapala DT flat sided crankbaits in grey pearl shiner, Lucky Craft pointer in table rock shad and chartreuse shad, Hook Some Bass brush hounds in watermelon/purple, Zoom lizards in watermelon seed and Hook Some Bass tubes in green pumpkin and chameleon craw.

There is still some fall fishing left and I have dates available this month.  If you are in need of a guide for some fun bass fishing, tournament preparation, lake familiarization or technique instruction don't hesitate to give me a call or drop me an email.

Now is the time to make your reservations for next spring's fishing trips for lodging and guides.  Don't wait too late to do this or you may not get the dates you want.

A  Gift Certificate for a guided bass fishing trip makes a great Christmas or special occasion present for the avid bass angler.  Contact me for details.
