Bass
Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; Nov. 9, 2006
Both
lakes are one foot over winter pool. The train of cold fronts
continues here in the lakes area with a cold front moving thru the area
about every 48 to 72 hours. This has continued to make the bass
fishing very sporadic with some good days and some very tough days.
Success seems to based more on being in the right place at the right
time more so than being able to run a good pattern. The Crappie
seems to be the most consistent bite from all the reports I am
receiving. Another cold front will be moving thru the lakes area
late tomorrow dropping daytime highs back into the 50's. High
winds from the northwest are forecasted for Saturday. The weather
reports (especially the wind) have been changing repeatedly so one
should check the latest wind forecasts from the NWS before you venture
on the lakes. Largemouth
Bass: The Largemouth Bass are being taken on a number of patterns,
none of which seem to be consistent from one day to the next.
Largemouth are being taken in shallow water in the creeks and bays
feeding on schools of baitfish with spinnerbaits, crankbaits and
jerkbaits. Largemouth are also being taken on secondary creek
channel points on crankbaits, suspending jerkbaits and Smallmouth
Bass: Smallmouth Bass are being taken on the main lake primary and
secondary points on topwater lures, crankbaits, tube jigs and jigs. Some
of the lures reported to be productive this week are:
Lucky Craft sammy and gunfish in ghost pearl lemon and chartreuse
shad, Lucky Craft pointer in chartreuse shad and table rock
shad, Rapala flat sided DT crankbaits in grey pearl shiner, Rapala shad
rap in black/silver, Bandit crankbaits in rootbeer and white, Lewis rattletraps
in blue/chrome, Hook Some Bass brush hounds in watermelon/purple
and Hook Some Bass spinnerbaits in blue glimmer. I
still have a number of days open for booking in November. If you
are in need of a guide for some fun bass fishing, tournament
preparation, lake familiarization or technique instruction give me a
call or drop me an email. You should be making your reservations
now for your spring fishing next year. If you delay too long
you may not be able to get the dates you want. A Gift
Certificate for a guided bass fishing trip makes a great holiday gift
for the avid bass angler. Call me or email me for
information.
