Bass Fishing Report; Kentucky and Barkley Lakes; Sep. 26, 2006
Captain Kirks Guide Service

Water Temp: 73
Water Elevation: 356.10

The lake jumped up about a foot and a half after this past weekend’s monsoon. This made some of the bay’s water look like chocolate milk, but the majority of the lake for now has just a little color and good current and this has made for a good bite. Power fishing for bass should be more effective now. I’ve noticed that several Smallmouth “spit up” Bluegill at the boat. “Bluegill pattern baits” !!!!!

BASS
Fish shallow ridges and ledges at the mouths of bays and out in the main lake. Spinner baits, crank baits, jigs, Carolina rigged soft plastics, and top waters should all produce good fish. The biggest bass I’ve caught lately have come off main lake chunk rock banks.
