The lake remains in about the same pattern.  The water has cooled some what.   I still rate the bass bite at Excellent.

I know it is hard to believe, but the lake is still producing numbers and quality!
We are lucky to have a lake of this quality in our back yard.

I began my short afternoon,  fishing without starting  the big motor.  I had noticed bass surfacing and chasing shad, before I could get the boat backed into the water. Typically these are not large fish in the summer months (over 16in.)  But, someone forgot to tell that to the schooling bass. The bass had managed (with the help of a light breeze) to corner what must have been a million shad, or so it appeared.

I started with a spinner-bait on 15lb Vicious fluorocarbon and caught a 3 1/2 pounder in just a few cast. I made several other cast with no success. I reached for my top water plug, a Heddon Pop N Image in thread-fin shad color.  (Lucky's Guns and Tackle)They  basically ate the paint off it. I would cast to weed edges and anything that looked like shad or bass. The bass was so aggressive I thought I was going to  catch-one every-cast. It was not uncommon to catch 2 or 3 in a row, and boating several 2  to 3 pound fish.

The action finally slowed a couple of hours before sunset. I decided to run to the south end and try frog n and the shaky head. I fished a couple main lake stretches and points with only a couple blow ups on the frog.

I turned to the shaky head and jig.  I started probing some deep water spots, the jig produced one small fish and the shaky head caught a few, with one keeper bite. I can assure you the 20ft bite is not over.

In only a few short hours I had boated about 15 bass. It was another one of those days where you wished you could of gotten to the lake earlier. I never boated any real large fish, but it was a blast!!!!!!!

Please visit Lucky's Guns and Tackle and order a spool of this line and other great products, you won't be disappointed! It also comes in a Co-polymer, in several colors. You won't find a better line for the price!
