The lake remains in about the same pattern. The water has cooled some what.   I still rate the bass bite at Excellent.

We started off our morning fishing a main lake point that has some scattered stumps on it.  We worked the point over with no success.

We moved to the next area, fishing a ledge with scattered grass, we got bit almost immediately. We were using 3/16  jig heads and trick worms. Anything in a dark color will work well.   As we were fishing, schooling fish were breaking the surface. We boated several fish on spooks and pop R's.

We continued to stay out on the main lake areas, fishing points and break lines
catching several more fish on top and also on the shaky head. We had boated about a dozen fish by 10:00 a.m.  with no fish over 16in. in length. I figured it was going to be a afternoon bite. The barometer had been extremely high in the morning and was starting to fall. It could only get better, and it sure did.

Heading back into one of the tributaries I decided to stop and fish a brush pile in 18-20 ft of water. Working the shaky head all the way back to the boat, I felt slight pressure. Setting the hook, we boated the first fish over 16".  This was just a beginning to what was getting ready to be a slaughter fest! I threw back in the brush and hooked one about 4 1/2 on the shaky head.

We moved farther into the tributary and stopped and fished another brush pile in 18-20 ft of water, sticking with the shaky head and Vicious Fluorocarbon.  I casted to the brush and landed my biggest bass of the year from Lake of Egypt , a 6 1/2  to 7 pounder.  Wait, it gets better.  I threw back in and boated a 5 1/2  pounder.

Now at this point any guide or client would be well pleased with the success we have had, but we continued on.

Duplicating the pattern, we stopped and fished several more brush piles and some bridge rubble in 20 ft of water. The pattern continued to hold up catching another 5 pounder and a double that was in the 16 1/2  to 17 in. range.  Then 3 that were in the 3 to 3 1/2 pound range, off another deep brush pile.

This is in my top 5 for being one of the best days on Lake of Egypt , and lucky enough to share the day with a client.  Steve boated several of his own fish, and contributed to the big stringer we had caught. It was truly a great day of fishing. I hope it is one he will remember.

We boated 28 bass, 10 over 16in. in length and several pushing the line. All the large fish were caught on 15lb Vicious Fluorocarbon, and a 3/16 shaky head rigged with a trick worm.

Please visit Lucky's Guns and Tackle and order a spool of this line and other great products, you won't be disappointed! It also comes in a Co-polymer, in several colors. You won't find a better line for the price!
