The bass bite has really heated up along with the weather. If you
are looking for numbers and
quality Lake of Egypt is the lake to be on right now.
With
water temps ranging from 78 to 84 the bite has been going strong and
will stay strong for a while. Males are feeding pretty heavy right now,
it is not unusual to catch 20- 35 bass. The bigger females should really turn on soon, looking for a easy
meal to slurp down after the spawn. Three and four pound bass are
regular but i am talking about the fives and sixes, and I will have my
favorite lure for them, a 1/2 ounce
Lunker Lure
Rattle'in Football
jig in their new color Okeechobee Craw. This jig is truly a bass magnet.
Work the jig around cover ,weedlines, and brush piles. I have located
bass in many depths ranging from 2 to 15 foot and may catch as many as 5
to 10 off each spot. What i am saying is you better get to the lake for
some great bass action.
If
your not a big jig fisherman tie on a Lunker Lure Shak-ee head and use
a straight tail worm of your choice and work the weed lines and hold on.
For colors, I like june-bug, watermelon, green pumpkin, black, and blue
fleck.
Lunker lure will also be releasing a new football skak-ee head to the
market soon. So keep your eyes out for it .
The
spinnerbait bite has slowed, but you can manage to catch a few. I am
still throwing the Hawg Caller sexy shad in 3/8 ounce.
