Bass Fishing Report; Lake Egypt ; Oct. 9, 2007 |

High blue skies with the high pressure has made the
bite tough. Several presentations are still producing some fish. The big
ones seem to be scattered. Fishing the weed beds with a Snag Proof frog is one
of my favorite choices for a quality bite. The Pro Series popin frog,in
white, out produced the other colors in my box. I was working the frog around
main lake points and pockets. I caught several fish this way and
had some bigger fish short strike. You definitely need one tied on.
Finding the right stretch can be the key to a big stringer. Try
different color frogs and find which one is best for that day. I prefer
whites, blacks, and greens. I also have been catching some around the outside
of the weeds and in the brush with a jig and pig combo. The bass seem to
be in the 4 - 16 ft range. The bite was real soft, so when in doubt, set
the hook! The shaky head never fails to boat a few. I like
the 3/16 size on 15 lb Vicious.. Rig this with a straight tail worm or
bait of choice. Keep in contact with the bottom and fish slow. The
outside edge of weeds down to 16 ft is a productive depth. Opportunities can be few and far between. This can
be typical in the fall transition. Try finding some bait fish with your sonar.
Sometimes spending more time idling with your sonar and less time
fishing can be a good thing. Tournaments weights start to be less this time of
year. The contributing factors are high pressure, shad migration, cold
fronts, angler pressure, and east winds. Again, this is typical October
fishing. So stay with it and prepare for the best day you have ever had
or the worst. That's fishing. |
