RON FLETCHER AND BOB WILKAS EARN $5,000+!!

The ever changing conditions had many scratching their heads during the SIC tournament on Smithland Pool. The erratic weather conditions including a good down pour the night prior to the event made it tough for many to establish one solid pattern and seemed to have the fish moving with the weather. Many who had located fish in creeks Friday during practice found the water to be a muddy mess on Saturday depending on the creeks you were in. The sunny one minute and stormy the next minute conditions made it challenging for most.

The first place team of Ron Fletcher from Girard, Illinois and Bob Wilkas of Thompsonville, Illinois weren't fazed by the weather. They started off by throwing topwater baits shallow and almost immediately boated three of their best fish of the day including a three pound nine ounce kicker that was also good for Big Bass of the day. As the day wore on they moved deeper throwing worms. The team ended the day with a solid weight of 14.10 and took home $5,000.00 for the position plus an additional $594.00 for the Big Bass. The second place team of John Passoni from Goreville, Illinois and Derrick Spiller of Christopher, Illinois reported a slow day getting about one bite every hour but they were the right bites. The team utilized crankbaits and jigs to catch their fish and reported catching them both shallow and deep. They ended the day with a total weight of 12.40 and took home checks totaling $2,500.00 for the position.

The third place team of Brett Hancock and Butch Craig both of Stonefort, Illinois reported a slow day. They ran North to an unnamed creek were they caught their better fish. They caught most of their fish on worms in shallow water. They had a total weight of 12.10 and took home $1,000.00 for the place.
