The
sixth event of the year was held at Smithland Pool, August 13,
2006. The day started out with a light fog not enough to delay the
take off time at 6:00 AM. Calm winds with 74, degree temperature
and high humidity made fishing barely tolerable even this early in
the morning. This did not keep the fish from biting. Most anglers
reported catching fish all day long, but could not get the quality
bite needed to put them in the comfort zone. 14 boats ended the
day with a 5 fish limit.

The
first place team of Jeff Harrell and James Wilson caught their big
fish early in a creek using top water baits. They caught their
next 4 fish using jigs in the main river to make their limit to
take the win. The team had a total weight of 11.09 lbs. First
place and entering the option pot earned them a check for
$1155.00. Great job guys!!
In
second place is the team of Jack Doan and Ben Doan. They had a
total weight of 9.97 lbs. They caught all their fish on tubes and
jigs on the main river and creeks. The team reported catching 3
limits of fish throughout the day witch helped them improve their
catch. The second place win and entering the option earned them
checks totaling 663.00.
Third
place goes to the team of Nathan Murphy and Dustin Kielhorn. Their
total weight of 9.85 lbs and option pot earning checks totaling
$362.00. The team caught most of their fish flipping plastics
around stumps in the creeks.
The
team of Shannon Toigo and David (BOO) Guil had big bass of the
day. The big bass weighed in at 5.42 lbs. The fish was caught on a
main river point 10 miles from take off using a jig. The run
earned the team checks totaling 190.00. NICE FISH!!
