BERNER AND DAVID BORTNER TAKE THE WIN!! |

|
The
fifth event of the year started out at 6:00 am with a temperature of 58
degrees and sunny skies that turned partly cloudy by mid morning. There
were light winds and the average water temperature was 80 degrees.
Thirty-one boats caught 138 fish totaling 244 pounds this is and average
of 1.76 pounds per fish and their were seven bass that weighed over
three pounds and one bass was over four pounds. The top five paid teams
and big bass took home a total of $3885. The top three boats and big
bass also received plaques. “It was a great average for the river”.
First
place team of Greg Berner and David Bortner reported catching all their
fish on ½ oz Jewel football jigs in 11-14 foot of water on the main
river. The team ended the day with five fish weighing in at 12.60 pounds
earning the team $1400 and entering the option money worth $115 and
plaques the team took home checks totaling $1515. Sponsors for the team
are Jackson Hewett Tax Service, Jewel Jigs, Falcon Rods, Southern Pro
Tubes, Ranger Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Zeigler Outdoors, Dunn’s
Sporting Goods and Lunker Lure. Great job guys!!!!!
The
second place team of Lonnie Bowlin and David Guill caught five fish
weighing 12.34 pounds. The team reported they caught all their fish on
the main river using jigs in 10-15 feet of water. The team caught fish
all day that earned them plaques and checks totaling $810. The team is
sponsored by Zeigler Outdoors, Harrison Sport Shop, and Benton Carpet
Outlet.
The
third place team of Kevin Renth and Kurtis Renth brought in five fish to
the scales that weighed in at 11.95 pounds. The team reported catching
their limit early using top water baits, then moved into the creeks
using soft plastic to improve their weight. The team earned checks
totaling sponsors. Skeeter Boats, Dale Saylor’s Custom Lures, and Save
Face (fish head masks)
The
team of Rick Lingle and Jack Ehiers caught the big bass on a tube at
1:00 in the afternoon fishing stumps in a creek. The team earned a
plaque and $320 plus $50 big bass bonus sponsored by Hill Printing in |
