It
was and excellent day for the third Illini Team Trail tournament
on
Lake
Shelbyville
. To begin the day seventy-one boats left Eagle Creek State Park
ramp with hopes of bringing in a limit of fish and a tournament
win.
At
the scales thirty limits of five fish were weighed in with a
winning weight of 19.34 pounds by father/son team of Jim and Matt
Carroll. Winning $3700.00 with the first place money, Ranger cup
money, Solar Bat sunglasses money, Hamby protector money and ITT
decal on boat money. Jim said they only fished from Eagle Creek
south to the dam area. .
They
first caught a couple of fish flippin and then switched to
Carolina
rig to catch eleven fish total. All their fish were caught on
secondary points. They caught nothing shorter than fourteen and a
half inch fish that they later culled for five fish that averaged
3.68 pounds each while their big fish was 5.01 pounds.
The
second place team of Brad Peters and Brad Thomas also brought five
fish to the scales with a total weight of 18.15 pounds winning
$1385.00. This is their first year fishing the ITT. They lost a
lot of fish that could have upgraded their weight. They only had
one short fish.
The
third place team also brought five fish to the scales with a total
weight of 15.76 pounds. They reported
having caught fifteen keeper fish mostly on the same point.
Started out with crankbait and the switched to jigs and
Carolina
rig to catch their bag of fish. They took home check for $785.00.
Fourth
place team of Tim Dillow and Tony Will took home a check for
$500.00 for bring five fish to the scales that weighed 15.21
pounds. Tim said they
caught 10 keepers using
Texas
rigged worm and jigs.
Big
fish was brought to the scales by the father son team of Josh
& Brad Kirchhoff with a weight of 6.38 pounds caught on a
Norman crankbait in Chartreuse and Blue.
This
is the seventh year for the Illini Team Trail events. The first
tournament this year they had seventy boats enter, the second
there were seventy-one boats entered and again today there were
seventy-one boats.
The
next ITT event for the Northern Division will be July 22nd
again from
Eagle
Creek
State Park
