Sunday morning started off rather slow for the team of
Scott McIntyre and Tony Waters.
When tournament director Mike Black check with them at noon
they had zero fish in the live well.
Tony said after the weigh-in that they caught their five
fish limits between twelve noon and twelve fifty-nine. That is
five keeper fish in an hour that weighed in at almost twenty
pounds. Scott and Tony are noted as jig fisherman and so it came
as a surprise that they caught their fish on Rat-L-Traps.
There
was only four and one-half pounds difference between the winning
time and the seventh place team. The top seven teams were money
winners.

The
Big Bass winning team of Dan and Randy McDowell with a beautiful
fish that hit the scales a 5.80 pounds. Dan and Randy only brought
two fish to the scales but the total weight of those two fish was
10.65 pounds. Making their second fish weigh just under five
pounds.
There
were seventy-two teams entered in the first tournament for the
northern division this year. Fifty-nine of those teams weighed in
at least one fish with a total of 129 fish having a total weight
of 459 plus pounds. That equates to a little over three and a half
pounds average per fish.

The
winning team of Scott McIntrye and Tony Waters took home a total
check for $3700.00 with $2700 for first place, $1000 from Ranger
Owner, $100 for Hamby Keel protector, $50 for both team members
having Solar Bar sun glasses and last but not least $50 for having
Illini Team Trail decal on their boat.
The
next tournament will again be at
Eagle
Creek
State Park
on
Lake
Shelbyville
on May 20th.
