Teams were greeted with picture perfect weather during the
August 12 event on Rend Lake. The bite wasn't all that bad
either considering the time of year and knowing Rend can be
tough during the dog days of summer.
The
first place team of Paul DeShirlia from Belleville, IL. and
Dave Mueller of Shilo, IL. went junk fishing and caught their fish
on a number of baits but jigs and crankbaits seemed to produce
the best. They concentrated their efforts in shallow water
areas. Water depths ranging from 1 to 5 feet with most of their
fish positioned on wood. The team also weighed big bass of the
day. The mid summer giant saw the scales reach 6.10lbs and
anchored the teams 14.45lb bag. The big fish was fooled by a
Lucky Craft RC 1.5 crankbait. They took home checks totaling
$705.00 for the place and Big Bass. Sponsors:

In second place is the team of Larry Wright Jr. and Derek
Spiller both of Christopher, IL. They flipped and pitched black
neon tubes and black and blue jigs around wood and timber on the
South end of the lake.
The team had a total weight of 12.55lbs and took home checks
totaling $225.00 for the day.
Third
place goes to the team of Travis Graham from Bonnie, IL and Robert
Hawkins of Mt. Vernon IL. The team threw spinnerbaits on shallow
clay banks with isolated wood. They had a total weight of
12.40lbs and earned $150.00 for the day. Sponsors: Warrens
