Shannon Toigo and Lonnie Bowlin TAKE THE WIN!
Rend Lake, July 14, 2007, by Duke Jenkel

Skies:  Partly Cloudy
Wind:  Southwest 5-15 mph
Temperature: Low 68  High 91

July 14th marked the 4th stop for Division 11 of the Bass World Sports Team Trail at Rend Lake .  50 teams of anglers launched in hopes of coming in with the winning stringer.  By days end it was evident that the fish were definitely biting on Rend.  Nearly every team weighed fish, with many five fish limits coming to the scale.  It was apparent early in the weigh in that a team would need to have 13 lbs or better if they wanted a place in the check line.  When the scales closed that was exactly the case.  Although 6 places were paid, it took 13.47 to get into the big money.  Most anglers reported catching fish related to rock cover, with some anglers catching their fish on wood.

The top Three places were:

(Shannon Toigo and Lonnie Bowlin…Lonnie was unavailable for the pic)

Shannon Toigo and Lonnie Bowlin caught the tournament winning stringer of 14.19 lbs.  They stated that they only had three fish with one hour to go, and they were able to catch 4 quality fish in the last hour, giving them the win.  They caught their fish in 3-5 feet of water, on crankbaits and soft plastics, all relating to wood cover.  The team is sponsored by Harrison’s Sport Shop, Zeigler Feed Store and Benton Carpet  Shannon was also the Ranger Cup winner for an additional $250.

(Carl Crider and Tom Witges
)

The team of Carl Crider and Tom Witges came in second with 14.07 lbs.  They reported catching their fish in a variety of ways.  They threw top water baits early and crankbaits and spinnerbaits the remainder of the day, all on rock and wood cover in 3-5 feet of water in the mid-lake region.

(Danny Borcheding and Billy Bradford)

The team of Danny Borcheding and Billy Bradford hauled in a 13.74 lb bag of fish, good enough for third place.  They caught their fish in the mid-lake region in 3-5 feet of water on rock, using crankbaits.  The team reported catching most of their fish in the mid-day portion of the tournament.

(Larry Dively)

Larry Dively caught the big bass of the tournament weighing in at 5.40 lbs.  This fish was caught around 8am on a crankbait.
