The Indiana North Division of Fishers of Men
held its third event of the season on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver
Indiana. Special thanks to Pastor Bill Chappel and New Life Church
in Rochester Indiana for greeting the division with open doors to
the church and for hosting this event.
Brother Joe Huff brought yet another fantastic inspirational
message, presenting God’s word on complacency with the following
points…
1. Complacency grows out of a false security in our spiritual
life.
2. Complacency is evidence of spiritual laziness.
3. Complacency often degenerates into sin.
4. Complacency creates a lukewarm faith.
WHAT CAUSES US TO GROW COMPLACENT?
Hosea 13:5-6…”I took care of you in the wilderness, in that
dry and thirsty land. But when you had eaten and were satisfied,
then you became proud and forgot me.” When we are in need, we
usually take God more seriously. But when we are well fed,
comfortable, and prosperous, it is easier to become complacent
about God. Wise is the person who remembers God daily in times of
both need and prosperity.
IT IS A SIN TO BE COMPLACENT, PARTICULARLY COMPLACENT TOWARD SIN.
James 4:17…”Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do
and then not do it.”
God takes rightness seriously. So should God’s people. To know
what is right and then be complacent about it or unwilling to do
it is sin. Complacency leads to indifference, which leads to
idleness. To stand for nothing is to stand against God. That’s
why complacency is so dangerous.
PROMISE FROM GOD
Revelation 3:15-17…I know all the things you do, that you are
neither hot nor cold. I wish you were one or the other! But since
you are like lukewarm water, I will spit you out of my mount!
Brother Joe challenged everyone in attendance to evaluate their
own lives, and determine if complacency had a foothold in our own
lives. Praising God for his workmanship, the IN-North Division saw
one new profession on Friday evening, and multiple rededications
to following HIM!!!! Praise the Lord.
As Saturday morning rolled around, 23 teams prepared to search out
a winning limit of fish. By tournament weigh in time, only 5
limits of fish were brought fish to the scales, a
The 1st place team of Jim and Brandt Trietsch
put together a five-fish limit weighing in at 9.82 pounds to take
the win.
The team of Dirk and Zach Hayward secured
second place with a four-fish limit weighing 9.36 pounds,
including 1st big bass, a 3.87 pound largemouth.
Second big bass honors went to the team of
Carl Waddington and Dan Schuster, with a 3.54 pound largemouth.
