GEORGE PANICK AND ALBERT KRUEGER TAKE THE WIN!

The second event of the year for the Southern Illinois Division was at Lake Of Egypt . At 7:00 am take off time the winds were gusting to 20 miles per hour, 53 was the temperature. The skies were clear and that usually means it is going to be a tough day on the water. This blue sky day was a different story, 20 boats out of 43 weighed in a 5 fish limit. Forty-three boats caught 155 fish with a total weight of 376 pounds, which makes and average of 2.43 pounds per fish. Five of the fish exceeded five pounds and 16 fish exceeded three pounds. The top seven paid anglers and big bass winner took home a total of $5540.00 for their days catch. The top three anglers and big bass winner also received plaques for their efforts. “Thank You”

The first place team of George Panick and Albert Krueger reported they caught their fish throughout the day using spinner baits and jigs on the main lake points. The team said they took a beating fishing the wind that gusted up to 35 miles an hour. The team had a total weight of 17.94 pounds and their big fish weighed in at 5.35 pounds earning them $1475.00 and entering the option pot worth $310.00 the team received checks totaling $1785.00 and plaques.

The second place team of Eric Niswonger and Kyle Radake caught a five fish limit using a ¼ ounce Lunker Lure Jig black with blue trailer, on windy banks in three to eight foot of water around rock and wood. The team reported they only caught eight keepers all day. The team’s big fish weighed in at 5.06 pounds and the team had a total weight of 17.79 pounds that earned them $970.00 for second place and entering in the option pot worth $186.00 the team received checks totaling $1156.00. The team is sponsored by Southern Pro Lures, Faults Hunting and Fishing, and Flying Fisherman Sun Glasses.

The third place team of Tony Dowdy Jr. and Tony Dowdy Sr. mostly fished on the main lake area using spinner baits and Texas rigged worms. The team reported catching a limit early and caught fish throughout the day. With a total weight of 17.36 pounds the team earned $685.00 for third place and entering the option pot worth 124.00, the team took home checks totaling $809.00. The team is sponsored by Rend Lake Marina, Ranger Boats, Marlow Hill Drilling, Sign Design, and Clover Creations.

The big bass winners for the day were the team of Lonnie Bowlin and David Guill from Zeigler , Illinois . The team reported they caught the fish that weighed in at 5.80 pounds in 6-10 foot of water using a black and blue jig on a wind blown bank. The team had a total weight of 12.91 pounds and the big bass earned the team $430.00 and Golden Eagle Distributing of Marion, Illinois big bass bonus of $50.00 along with a big bass plaque. The team is sponsored by Zeigler Outdoors, Harrison Sports Shop and Benton Carpet Outlet.
