ANGLER'S CHOICE

STEVE SANDERS AND GREG GORDEN TAKE THE WIN!
Lake Egypt,
Spring Choice March 2, 2008, by Earl Sigley

The first event in the SI SPRING (CHOICE) Division got off to a good start with 17 boats signed up for the 7:00 am take off with temperature at 50 degrees and winds around 10 mile an hour and clear skies. The temperature continued to climb to 76 degrees and so did the south wind that gusted up to 40 miles an hour all day long but that did not stop the fish from biting it just limited the anglers ability to stay on the main lake for very long. On team got blown up on the bank near the ELK’S launch and one dedicated angler not named jumped in the water and pushed his boat off the rocks to keep his boat from sinking it was a nasty wind in that area. MY HATS OFF TO THE ANGLER FOR THINKING FAST AND AVOIDING WHAT COULD HAVE GOT BAD FAST.

The first place team of Steve Sanders and Greg Gorden came to the scales with a limit of fish that weighed in at 18.26 pounds. The team reported catching 7 keepers over 17 inches long using crank bates on the main lake in 8 to 12 feet of water near grassy flats. The team caught all their fish from take off till 1:00 o’clock that’s when they shut down for the team. The teams 18.26 pound stringer earned them $1020.00 for first place and entering the option pot worth $130.00 they earned checks totaling $1150.00 and plaques.

GREAT JOB GUY’S!

The second place team of William Draper and Mark OBrian reported catching all their fish on Cotton Mouth jigs in 8 foot of water on main lake points. The team 10.84 pound 5 fish limit earned them checks totaling $690.00.

The Big Bass of the day was caught by Bob Hughey and Steve Ramey. The team reported catching the 5.33 pound fish on a black and blue jig on a main lake weedy flat windy bank. The team caught fish all day long by casting in the weeds and jerking the bait out and letting the jig fall at the edge and that’s when the fish would take off. The team earned $170.00 and plaque. The team also received the GOLDEN EAGLE DISTRIBUTING BIG BASS BONUS of $50.00 for checks totaling $220.00.
