The 4th and final event of the Winter Choice started out with a temperature of 18 degrees and ended with 40 degrees. Even though the parking lot was snow packed everyone launched from the ramp without a problem. Water temperatures ranged from 34 degrees to 44 degrees which didn’t slow down the fish biting. Seven limits of fish were caught with weights ranging from 13 pounds to 20 plus pounds. Fourteen boats caught 39 fish.
The first team of Greg Berner and David Bortner caught a five fish limit using jerk baits and jigs in six to fifteen foot of water. They reported catching a limit by 8:30 am. The team caught fish all day the big fish was caught at 1:00 in the afternoon. The big fish weighed in at 6.09 lbs. They had a total weight of 20.38 lbs that earned them $1005.00. They also entered the big bass pot and option pot, and with catching the big bass also received $50 from Golden Eagle Distributing earned them $360.00 more with a total of $1365.00. The team’s sponsors’ are Dunn’s Sporting Goods, Zeigler Bait and Feed, Maxima Line, Ranger Boats, Falcon Rods, Jackson Hewlet, and Jewel Jigs.
The second place team of Eric Neswonger and Kyle Redake reported catching their fish using jerk baits on the main lake and wind blown points. They caught a few fish early and their big fish came late in the day. The team weighed in five fish with a total weight of 19.49 lbs. The second place win earned them checks totaling $462.00. The team sponsors’ are Flying Fisherman Sunglasses, Southern Pro Lures and Faults Hunting and Fish Shop.
The
third place team of Jerry Bate and Scott Kirk reported they caught their
fish on main lake using jerk baits and drop shot jigs. The team caught
fish all day with a total of 15 fish over the slot limit. The team had a
total weight of 18.32 lbs. The team took home $48.00 from the option pot
money. The team sponsors’ are Mercury Outboard Motors, Lowrance
Electronics, Zeigler Outdoor and Feed, Dunn’s Sporting Goods,
