ANGLER'S CHOICE

WILLIAM DRAPER AND MARK O’BRIEN TAKE THE WIN!
Lake Egypt, November 11, 2007, by Earl Sigley

The first event of the year (winter choice) at Lake of Egypt was held on November 11, 2007 and it could not have been a better start with temperatures in the mid 50s. Conditions quickly changed with south winds 25 to 30 miles an hour and rain moving in. When the rain started in poured for about an hour. Then the temperatures started to fall to around 48 degrees and light rain the rest of the afternoon. This did not stop the fish from biting; Lake of Egypt gave anglers some good weights for a day like this.

The first place team of William Draper and Mark O’Brien reported catching their fish weighing in at 17.49 pounds using Cottonmouth jigs in 12 to 15 feet of water. The team also had the big bass of the day that weighed in at 5.14 pounds. The team earned $1126 for the first place win and $220 big bass option for a total of $1346. Great job guys!! The team’s sponsors are Cottonmouth Lures, Dunn’s Sporting Goods, Ranger Boats and Yamaha Outboards.

The second place team of Lonnie Bowlin and John Mocaby reported catching their fish late in the afternoon using buzz baits in the mid lake points tight to the edge of the weed line. The team’s weight of 16.77 pounds earned the team checks totaling $688. The team’s sponsors are Zeigler Feed and Bait, Big Carpet Outlet and Harrison Sport Shop.

The third place is the team of Eric Miswonger and Kyle Radake reported catching fish early using frogs then changed up later in the day to ½ oz Lunker Lure Spinner Baits with gold blades. Their big fish came off main lake points fishing the outside edge of the grass beds. The 15.56 pound stringer earned the team $421 and with entering the option pot for $160 for a total of $581. The team’s sponsors are Faust Hunting and Fishing Shop, Flying Fisherman Sun Glasses and Setter Rods.
