The
Friday night pre-tournament meeting was held at the Weldon Village
Hall on July 27th with a wonderful feast of beef
brisket and pork shoulder provided by Black Kettle. Ted Reva and
his wife from
Lane
,
Illinois
are competition BBQer’s and it is GOOOOD! Thanks again Ted. We
also had some sides of potato salad, baked beans, green beans, and
chips with chocolate cake for dessert. Are you full yet? After
dinner we were blessed with a special performance by The Brown
Family Southern Gospel Singers. Tony Brown and three of his ten
children (Tony, Marlan, and Samantha) sang gospel songs to us and
Tony gave us the message. The kids do a lot of street witnessing.
They are truly an example of a strong Christian family. They will
go anywhere anytime. If you would like to schedule them for a
visit call (815) 476-9811 or www.thebrownfamilysingers.com
.
Saturday
morning was muggy and calm but there was significant cloud cover.
You could see the moisture in the air in the fog above the surface
of the water. Once the visibility was good we launched the
seventeen teams off into the morning haze and would anticipate
their return in the afternoon. With the hot weather and prior
tournaments on the lake some were expecting it to be a tough bite
but when God is involved in something and we ask him to provide a
bountiful catch there are always plenty of fish brought to the
scales at the 3:00 pm weigh-in. Out of the seventeen teams there
were six limits of five bass weighed in and every boat brought
fish.

It
was last months winners Brent Sporleder from Fisher and Kevin Cupp
from
Mansfield
who would continue there streak with the heaviest five fish limit
by only three tenths of a pound with 13.56 lbs. They also caught
the second largest bass of the day with a largemouth that weighed
3.45 lbs. Total winnings for the team was $1,133.00.

The
team of Jack Peplow and Bob Nelson both from
Danville
finished just shy of first with five fish weighing 13.53 lbs. They
also caught the big bass of the day with a largemouth weighing
4.47 lbs. earning them a total of $699.00.
Third
place was the team of Bryan Williams from Mahomet and Michael
Sanders from
Monticello
with a five fish limit theat weighed 11.93 lbs. to finish in our
final money spot earning them $318.00.
Fourth
place was Bryan Thrasher and Jeff Henson with five fish weighing
10.74 lbs. Fifth place was Art Griggs and Dave Blume with a limit
that weighed 10.60 lbs. Sixth place was the father and son team of
James and Jim Ferrell with five bass weighing 9.92 lbs. Seventh
place was Travis Boley and John Mckinney with four fish that
weighed 9.13 lbs. Eighth place was Bobby Hawes and Tom Followell
with three bass weighing 7.13 lbs. Ninth place was Mark Busch and
Dee Hobbs with four fish weighing 6.94 lbs. Tenth place was the
husband and wife team of Marlan and Debbie Brown with three fish
weighing 6.93 lbs. Eleventh place- Terry Potts / Ian Estes 6.77
lbs. Twelfth place- Jay Peterson / Mike Barnes 6.41 lbs.
Thirteenth place- Jason Waldshmidt / Chris Hall 3.75 lbs.
Fourteenth place- Troy Boley / Terry Adair 3.64 lbs. Fifteenth

Hart / Lito Veliz 2.08 lbs. Seventeenth place- Tim Potts / Justin
