Central Illinois Fishers of Men July 12th 2008 Clinton Lake The fourth of five Friday night meetings took place at the Clinton Assembly of God church with a great cookout style meal including hamburgers and hotdogs, pasta salad, and desserts that were out of this world. We would like thank the wonderful servants of Christ at this church and we look forward to seeing them again next season. We also were blessed with a special guest for the weekend. Al Odom our National director came and gave a wonderful message about the truth and how we accept what people tell us and things we read about as truth. The reason we accept it as truth is because many people witnessed it and it was recorded in the history books. John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father but by me. John 8:32 says the truth will set you free. Many people witnessed what Jesus did and said and it is recorded in the history book called the bible. One person made a decision to live their life for Christ. Luke 15:7 Jesus said I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety nine righteous people who do not need to repent. Saturday morning was a warm and cloudy with showers and thunderstorms. We had a break in the weather long enough to get the twenty eight boats blasted off. About an hour into the tournament a pretty nasty storm blew in and dropped about three inches of rain on us in about two hours. The rest of the day would prove to be some really good fishing as twenty seven teams brought in fish and out those there were sixteen limits of five bass.
Last month Travis Boley from Weldon and John McKinney from Mahomet bested a field of thirty one boats and this month they continue on with their winning ways as they not only won the tournament with 17.96lbs., but would also catch the biggest fish of the day with a largemouth bass weighing 5.75lbs. They earned $1463.50 for there efforts and also remain in the lead for the year end points champion race. Second place was the team of Tim and Heather Rivest from Rantoul with 15.33lbs. Tim was fishing without his wife this weekend but she will be proud of her man for bringing home a check for $750.50.
Third place was the father and son team of Ian and George Estes form Mahomet with a limit weighing 15.21lbs. earning them $517.00 and also moving them up in the year end standings to second place. Fourth place was another father and son duo. Jeff and Jon Toomer also from Mahomet put together a limit of bass weighing 14.03lbs. earning them a check for $303.00. Fifth place and our final money spot was the team of Roger Massey and Roger Shaw with a limit that weighed 13.56lbs and also the second biggest bass caught in the tournament that weighed 5.34lbs earning them $341.00 6th Jeff Cooley / Brad Miller 5 Fish 13.12 lbs 7th Jason Waldschmidt / Marc Mixell 5 Fish 12.64lbs 8th Chase McCumsey / Chuck Fry 5 Fish 12.52 lbs 9th Dave Blume / Art Griggs 5 Fish 12.44 lbs 10th Kent Oakley / Mike Barnes 5 Fish 12.43 lbs 11th Dale McCumsey / H.
