Fishers of Men Central Illinois Division
Clinton Lake
May 10, 2008
The Friday night pre-tournament meeting was held
at the Weldon Village Hall in Weldon, IL. The forty four anglers
who attended the meeting not only received fifty points. They
also were served spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread and green
beans for dinner along with homemade brownies and cookies was
the dessert. Afterward our director gave a message from Matthew.
Its purpose is to build a strong foundation in our walk with
Christ so that when the trials and storms of life come our house
will remain strong because it is built on the rock ( JESUS ).
Seven people rededicated there life to the Lord.

Jesse and Anthony Lopez 1st Place Catch
Saturday morning was cool with a temperature
somewhere in the forties with very little wind. As the morning
progressed an East wind began to blow at about ten to fifteen
miles per hour which is a direction that the wind does not
usually blow in Central Illinois. It did not seem to bother the
fish any though as there were fifteen limits of bass brought to
the scales at 3:00 PM. This matched a record number of five fish
limits from last year in May when our anglers caught this same
number of limits solidifying Clinton Lake as a great fishery for
Bass. From the twenty nine teams who took to the water it was
the team of Jesse and Anthony Lopez from Naperville who would
finish the day on top with a five fish limit of bass weighing in
at 19.13 lbs. The father and son duo would also catch the big
bass of the tournament that weighed 5.61 lbs. They reported
catching their fish using a black and blue jig tipped with a
pork trailer, crankbaits and lizards. They were fishing main
lake rocks in 2 to 5 feet of water. With the win they would take
home $1,530.00 in prize money.

Brothers Ryan Boswell from Wilmington and Austin
Boswell form Manteno would finish in second place earning them a
check for $785.00. They reported catching their fish with
crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and a Carolina rigged senko fishing in
2-4 ft of water. They were fishing all types of structure and
spent a good portion of the day drift fishing because their
trolling motor went dead at about 10:30 AM.

Third place prize money of $541 was awarded to
the team of Bryan Thrasher from Mansfield and Jeff Henson from
Bloomington with five weighing 14.82 lbs. Fourth place was the
team of Steve Riddle of Farmer City and Clint Seaman from nearby
Weldon with five fish weighing 14.24 lbs. They received $314.00
for their efforts. Fifth place and our final money paying spot
was another father and son team. Ian and George Estes both from
Mahomet were awarded $238.00 for their five fish limit that
weighed 14.16 lbs. Roger Shaw of Urbana caught the second
biggest bass of the tournament with a largemouth that weighed
5.23 lbs earning his team $116.
