The
day started off following a drop in temperatures over the past week that
started with highs in the upper 70s, to low 80s. The high for the day
was only 59, so that would translate into a tough day of fishing for our
anglers. Of the 80 boats that ventured out for a day of fishing, only 22
bass were brought to the scales. Although we do not have the specific
patterns that the fish were caught on, from those numbers, you can see
the fishing was tough at best.
First
place and big bass honors went to the team of David Shultz and Jerry
Olsen. They had a total of 5.9 pounds, which was bolstered by the big
bass of the day at 4 pounds even. For their efforts, they earned a total
of $2872. Congratulations
guys.
Second
place went to Kyle Danhausen and Rodney Ponton. For their effort, they
earned a check for $1,472. These two anglers came to the scales with a
combined weight of 5.75 pounds. Congratulations on your fish during this
tough bite.
Third
place went to Ken Sals and Rich Gicrut. They caught 5.45 pounds of bass
that was good enough for them to cash a check for $832. Good job guys.
The
Illinois Valley BASSMASTERS would like to thank all that came out to
fish today. They would also like to invite you to fish their fall
tournament that launches out of the Des Plaines Conservation Ramp on
October 21, 2007. For information on this tournament, look to this site
later for more information.
