To combat hypothermia, always carry a towel and a spare change of clothes in the boat when fishing in cold weather.  If you ever fall in, or have to get out and push, you’ll be darn glad you left the house prepared.

Band-Aids, peroxide, Neosporin and a small bottle of aspirin are always good boating essentials.  Put them in a zip lock bag and keep the bag in the boat for emergencies.

In case of accidental hooking, take a two foot piece of fishing line and tie it in a loop.  Remove the bait from the impaled hook.  Place the loop in the bend of the hook then place down pressure on the shank of the hook.  In one swift motion pull hook in opposite direction of entry.   Takes a little bit of guts, but it does work.  Get out the above bag, use the Band-Aid and Neosporin and keep fishing!
