Chad's Pro Tips!! |

. I’m
frequently asked by other anglers if I use colors and dyes on my
baits. My answer is a
definite yes. I feel at
times it can make a real difference when the fish are pressured.
As
a norm I don’t usually get real elaborate with my bait colors.
I like to stick with the basics such as black, brown, green, or
even white upon occasion. So
my favorite dye colors are chartreuse and orange. I
really like to add a little highlight to my baits when I use soft
plastics such as Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver, or Chompers tubes.
I
don’t get carried away with the dye.
If I’m working with baits that resemble a crawdad I’ll dip
about a ¼ inch of the pincher, or if I’m throwing a tube I’ll dip
the ends of the tentacles. I
also like to add a little highlight to my Flirt finesse worms. Besides
dipping, I also like to use a spray dye solution that has a garlic
scent. Anglers can add
color in the same manner as the dip, but the spray allows for a few
additional highlighting options.
If
targeting pressured fish, or if the bite starts to slow down, be
creative and add a little extra color to your bait.
There’s nothing wrong with using a product when it works.
