Mark Duerr and Shawn Drew TAKE THE WIN!
Lake Puckaway, June 24, 2007 By Ken Darton

WABTA Mollica’s Pub / Dunn’s Sport Open

Conditions
Air Temp:  Mid-80’s
Water Temp: Mid 70’s
Water Clarity:  Poor
Skies:  Morning Fog  Clearing to Sunny Skies

The talk at the dock in the morning before take-off was focused around how tough the pre-fish period had been in the days preceding the tournament. Many anglers reported catching only a few fish a day but as always several teams found a way to bring a solid six bass limit to the scales.

Leading the way was the team of Mark Duerr and Shawn Drew who ran the river to catch a six bass limit weighing a very respectable 16.50lbs to secure the victory.  The team reported that fishing was tough as they only caught seven keeper fish throughout the day with their last fish coming only minutes before they had to head back to the weigh-in.  They threw swim jigs and pitched tubes to shallow water in the river all day to catch their limit. Mark and Shawn won $1250 and two trophies for their efforts.  Congratulations on a great win!

In second place is the 2006 defending WABTA Team of the Year, the husband and wife team of Mike and Debbie Simonds.  Mike and Debbie fished main lake weeds and reported catching fish on a buzzbait along with a senko.   Their six biggest fish weighed 15.90 lbs. earning them cash and the second place trophies.   Congratulations on a great day on the water!

Rounding out the trophy winners in third place is the father and son team of John and Chad Siboda.  They also fished main lake weeds with a buzzbait and reported picking up a few fish from the slop with topwater frogs.  John and Chad mentioned that their fish came early in the morning and again in the last hour before weigh in.  Their six fish limit weighed in at 15.62 lbs to earn them the third place trophies and cash. Great job guys!

The big bass of the tournament was a 4.18lb Lake Puckaway toad caught by Gary Jacobson.  Gary reported that he caught the fish early in the morning off a main lake weed patch.  Nice fish Gary !
