Harvester Bass Club Weekend Tour

Wire to wire win for Green and Prybil!
Mississippi River pool 9, Aug 4-5, 2007, by Glenn Walker

27 teams braved the intense heat during pre-fishing to put together solid patterns heading into this weekend’s Harvester Bass Club Weekend Tour tournament out of Lansing , Iowa , which was held August 4-5th.  The weather come tournament day was very different from the week before, the sun was a rare sight and anglers downed parkas and bibs the majority of both fishing days.

Despite the soggy and overcast conditions, all teams reported catching a lot of fish on pool 9 of the Mississippi River .  It was the team of Dan Green and Brian Prybil that took first place with 29.11 lb. of bass.  The team took the lead after day one with a five-bass limit weighing 14.91 lb.  They fished a variety of cover through out both days after catching a quick limit in the morning and then looking for that very valuable kicker fish the rest of the day.  The team used primarily spinnerbaits and rats to claim top honors.  Dan and Brian would like to thank the Harvester Bass Club and all of their sponsors.

First Place :  Dan Green and Brian Prybil
Day 1:  14.91
Day 2:  14.20
Total:  29.11

In second place was Darron and Mel Callow who had a two-day total of ten bass weighing 27.55 lb.  They reported using swim jigs around vegetation to put together their almost identically sacks each day.

Day 1:  13.91
Day 2:  13.64
Total:  27.55

The pattern of fishing vegetation on pool 9 held true again for the third place team of Clint Adams and Courtney Leibfried.  The duo used Horney Toads to get 26.83 lb. over the course of two days.

Day 1:  13.84
Day 2:  12.99
Total:  26.83

The talk amongst the anglers at both days weigh-ins was that it was rare to not see at least one 4 lb. bass brought to the scales, but Dave Rippel quickly took care of that when he brought in a healthy 4.22 lb. largemouth.

Dave was the only angler out of the 54 anglers to boat a bass that weighed in over the 4 lb. mark over the two day tournament.  Dave caught the fish on the second day of the tournament.

If you are looking to get into tournament bass fishing and want to get involved with a great group of guys or just want to try your luck, check out the Harvester Bass Club website, http://harvesterbass.com/ .  The club’s next Weekend Tour tournament will be held out of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin on August 25-26th.
