The
Wisconsin State Bass Federation, Zone 4 event was held on the
Mississippi River pools 8 and 9 June 1 – 3, 2007.
With
Friday being the only official practice day after the week long
“off limits” period, the competitors prepared to take off at
6:00am on Saturday despite the windy conditions and the potential
for severe rain storms.
The
river was in average condition for early June with a steady
current flow and a stage of 5.86ft. Many main channel and
backwater areas were muddied slightly with the cleaner water to be
found around dense vegetation.
Jim
Tomsovic, of
Sparta
Wisconsin
, led the tournament on both days of competition.
Jim
secured his tournament winning weight of 29.865lbs by pitching
jigs and dragging
Carolina
rigged tubes along main river rock.
Tom
Tischer, of LaCrosse
Wisconsin
, utilized a similar pattern to secure a second place finish with
a weight of 28.065lbs
Third
place went to Scott Alo, of Onalaska
Wisconsin
. Scott Pitched Jigs to the cover to secure a third place finish
with a weight of 27.410lbs
The
fourth place weight belonged to Jesse Kasera of
Sparta
Wisconsin
. Jesse caught his fish by pitching tubes and jigs.
In
fifth place with 25.595lbs was Danny Mancini of Necedah
Wisconsin
. Danny caught his fish by pitching “Snack-Daddy” tubes and
Snack sticks to backwater weed edges and rock.
The
Day one Big Bass Award went to Chad Richardson with a 3.88lb
Largemouth Bass.
Day
two Big Bass was awarded to Dick Wilson with a 4.345lb Largemouth.
The
TBF, Wisconsin State Bass Federation Championship will be held in
August on Lake Winnebago in
Oshkosh
Wisconsin
. The top 30% of the field from this zone tournament will advance
