4th Annual Danny Potter Memorial Bass Tournament

Peterson and Briesie Crowned Champions on the Croix!!
St. Croix, June 16, 2007, by Paul Strege

4th Annual Danny Potter Memorial Bass Tournament
Hosted by the Indianhead Bassers
St. Croix River, Hudson , WI
June 16, 2007

The team of John Peterson and Dave Briesie bested the field of 16 teams in the 4th Annual Danny Potter Memorial Bass Tournament held on June 16, 2007. The duo assembled their creel of 8 smallmouth weighing 20.34 pounds, including a 5.49 pound trophy. Their winning pattern involved targeting areas with rock, sand, loose weeds, or a combination thereof, in 2 to 6 feet of water with Terminator spinnerbaits and G-Lock jigs. The 5-1/2 pound smallie generated great momentum for the Peterson - Briesie team in a few short minutes upon arriving at their starting spot in the morning. For their efforts, they collected $1360 in First Place and Big Bass prize monies.

Coming in second place was Eric and Chuck Thompson. The team weighed an 18.56 pound limit of smallies. The overcast skies present in the morning aided in executing their strategy of targeting post spawn smallmouths with reaction lures. The most productive depths for the Thompson team were relatively shallow.

Suffix Pro-Staffer Mike Mattis and Pete Hawksford of Hudson , Wisconsin , rounded out the Top 3 with a bag of smallmouth weighing 18.50. They targeted smallmouth by slow-crawling and dead sticking All-Terrain football jigs over submerged rocks.

The Indianhead Bassers club of New Richmond, Wisconsin will be hosting another Pro Tournament on September 9, 2007 on Lake Wapogasset . Contact Erv Erickson (715-294-3524) for more details.
