From L to R: 1st-Richie Eaves, 2nd & BB-Rob
Bartholomew, 3rd-Scott Seager
Even
after the repeated onslaughts from the big tournament
organizations in
2006
this pool has already shown it had no effect on the great fishing.
Many big fish were brought in today even though limits were a
little scarce. This only reminds us that the water is still cold
and warming and we should have a hawg fest at the next event as
the grass comes up.
Today
the air temp was in the upper 70's and the water was in upper 50's
to lower 60's. The current was swift and the level falling but
that did not stop Richie Eaves from pushing into the shallow
backwater lakes where he found fish he believed to be spawning. He
caught his fish flipping plastics into bushes within
Burlington
Island
backwater.
Second
place honors went to Rob Barthlomew who also found his fish would
bite plastics. He threw a purple tube inside of creeks around
Ft. Madison
,
IA.
His sack also contained big fish of the tournament a 5.2lbs
smallmouth.
Rob's
nemesis, Scott Seager, was close on his heels but when the smoke
cleared he fell short of 2nd by only 0.02lbs which made it very
interesting for a while.
Thanks
to Burlington Area Convention and Tourism Bureau for hosting the
tournament.
