Angler's Choice
Tournament # 3, June 2 2007, Mississippi River Pool 19 Today began rainy
but shortly after launch the rain went away for the most part. The air
temperature was pleasant and the water temperature was in mid 70's. Due
the the recent rains the creeks feeding the river were muddy and rising.
This seemed to have made the fish less aggressive but there were still
good numbers caught by the field.

The
field was topped once again by the team of Richie Eaves and Neil
LeMaster but today Neil could not make it so Richie brought along his
lovely wife Nikki as a substitute. They proceeded to best the field with
just over 15lbs along with big bass at 3.58lbs. Early in the day they
targeted largemouth but after catching only skinny fish they decided to
chase smallmouth along the rip-rap and by the end of the day it proved
to be a good decision. Richie credited his new Evinrude ETec as saving
money on fuel and oil while also providing trouble-free operation.
The
second place team of Steve Anderson (Bobby Evans stood-in for
Anderson today)
and David Fritts caught their fish on a classic junk fishing pattern.
Their limit weighed 13.51lbs. The team is sponsored by Watkins Marine in
Pekin
,
IL
.
Third
place went to Roger Ward and Matt Kipling with 13.01lbs. Their pattern
for the day as pitching tubes and beavers in the feeder creeks.
