The
Mississippi River
has finally turned on for the year and some very good fish were brought
to the Angler's Choice scales. The local angling teams fishing this
tournament found good numbers of both largemouth and smallies in the
lower end of the pool. But the grapevine says that visiting anglers
fishing club tournaments this weekend had a very tough time and brought
in less than one fish per angler. This goes to show the the quality of
anglers competing in this circuit.
The
weather was mild but somewhat windy and the water temps warmed from the
low 50's to as high as 65 degrees in some areas of the pool.
The
winning team of Chad Kerr and Quinton Inghram thought the day was just
perfect as they brought in a mixed bag for the top weight of 13.21lbs
and took home just over $1000 for their efforts. They reported fishing
the lower third of the pool. They found the fish to be fairly aggressive
and fell prey to plastics.
Second
place and a check for $490 went to the team of Mike Mertens and Kurt
Johnson with a limit weighing 12.71lbs.
Rounding
out the top 3 was the team of Benjamin Tripp and David Son with 5 bass
weighing 12.33lbs. The big bass of the tournament went to Danny Graham
and Todd Flockhart with a 5.31 pound largemouth.
